New Interns in the Library

The Fitzgerald Library is fortunate to be hosting two interns this semester, Katie Sonnek and Christine Volk.

Katie Sonnek is a junior majoring in Literature with a Writing Emphasis and minoring in Public Relations.  She is planning to seek a graduate degree in Library Science after graduation and a career in libraries.  One of her main activities while at the Fitz will be to develop a blog attached to the library website that provides reviews of young adult and children's fiction. That she is ideally suited for this is revealed in the bio she provided for this article:

Katie "has visited her local libraries almost daily since the time she learned to read and has fond memories of accruing enormous fines because she could never bear to part with the books once they were due to be returned. (This practice is not recommended.) When not reading, she can be found recommending books to unwary passers-by."

Christine Volk  is a junior with a major in History.  Her hometown is Champlin, MN.  Her activities include President of the History Club, Phonathon, Admissions Ambassador, Future Alumni Committee, and Student Activities Committee.

She will be working this semester in the Archives department the Library.  This internship is designed to expose students interested in history to all aspects of operations involving the archives department.  Christine will learn research and processing skills through hands on experience with historical material.  She will assist with processing and organizing materials for us.

Welcome  Katie and Christine!
